The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires all businesses to conduct their own fire safety risk assessments. This is to be done for all work places and this course provides all the knowledge, theory and skills to conduct them in a suitable and sufficient manner. The course includes: Legislation, principles of risk assessment, identifying fire hazards and fire risks, selecting appropriate fire control measures, the layout of documentation required and the monitoring of risk assessments. The course will enable all participants to write Fire Safety Risk Assessments. The course concludes with a practical work-based assignment which is then submitted for marking

The changes in the UK Fire Legislation in 2006 requires all businesses to appoint responsible persons and train suitable staff to undertake fire safety arrangements in the business. This course will provide both the knowledge and the skills that a fire warden will need to apply in their workplace including statutory checks, fire drills, assisting the fire safety responsible person and use of portable fire fighting equipment. The course does include hands-on use of water and CO2 fire extinguishers and all participants receive a CD Rom containing all statutory checklists, records and inspection forms. The course concludes with a practical test desinged to test the participants ability to spot workplace fire safety hazards.

This course is a basic introduction for all staff so that they are fully aware of the risks posed by fire in the workplace.
Fire causation, prevention, escape routes, signs, extinguishers and drillls are all covered so that staff appreciate the seriousness of having a fire on the premises and can apply prompt and correct action to limit the effect.
This course can be tailored to suit the work place and the experience of the work staff.
